First you read the prompt and have a look at what exactly they want you to do. So, it’s important that you become familiar with the instructions first. Let’s have a look at some of them.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TASK 2 WRITING

1. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

2. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

3. Why is this so? Give reasons for this and solutions?

4. Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages?

5. Why is this so? What effect does it have on the individual and society?

There are three stages you need to go through in order to write a good essay.

STAGE 1

The first three to five minutes you go through the prompt, understand its implications and brainstorm. Then, jot down the ideas that come to mind, take a position based on these and organize them into paragraphs. Finally, do remember to include relevant examples to substantiate your reasoning.

STAGE 2

Next, you start writing. As you write, have a look at the prompt to stay on track as this is required to get a good band in the first assessment criterion ‘Task Response’. Coherence, cohesion, vocabulary and grammar do play their role in getting a band you would require for university admission.

STAGE 3

The third stage is reviewing your essay which will definitely help you improve your essay. Checking your essay for spelling errors as well as grammatical errors and fixing them would save you from rewriting the exam just for band .5 or 1 improvement.
