Tips to improve your speaking skill

  1. Speak to yourself in English – All of us keep talking to ourselves right through the day. We remind ourselves to do this or that. We chide (scold) ourselves for having done things wrongly! We also pat ourselves for the good things we have done. Of course, there are times we regret a lot for not having done something or having done something! While all these conversations generally happen in one’s mother tongue, a conscious effort should be made to switch to English. This helps you talk so much in English with no fear or hesitation since you are the listener too!
  2. Listen to others speak in English – It is paramount (very very important) that you listen to English as much as possible. Listen to the English news, watch an English movie, listen to English songs and speak on a topic and listen to your own voice! This goes a long way in improving your pronunciation as well as picking the rhythm of the English language.
